Netscape 4.05 Security IssueNetscape Navigator versions 4.05 and earlier include a component which is set to expire at the end of 1999. If you are using one of these versions, you may receive warning messages when trying to connect to certain secured web sites after December 31, 1999. This is only a user interface issue. Root CA certificate expiration does not affect SSL encryption (security).
SolutionTo avoid this, we recommend that users of Netscape version 4.05 and earlier upgrade their browser. Download the latest version of Netscape's browser
If you choose not to upgrade, simply click past the certificate expiration dialog box when it appears after December 31, 1999. The connection will continue to be secure as before. |
